Arrival and Check-in:

You will reach the venue easily via markings of Muroor Street (4th Street), opposite the Mohammed Bin Zayed football stadium. The area is nested with business and government buildings, and there’s a convenient footbridge from infront of the stadium. If by car and coming from Bus Station toward stadium you will take a U-turn from signal and then 2nd exit will go on Ramp to arrive right infront of the Hotel’s main lobby entrance. The valet staff (I must mention very humble and greet you with smile) will take your car and luggage as you arrive in the beautiful lobby (which is impressive and by some means homely) from glass-fronted hotel tower, you can’t miss the soaring atrium which is indeed one of the best elevations (Art Structure) in UAE . To the left is the reception desk and to the right is Orchid lounge with a grand piano and a coffee bar.

F&B:

Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi offers an array of exquisite restaurants including Benjarong – award-wining Thai cuisine, The Capital Grill – offering steaks and Mediterranean specialties and Urban Kitchen – international all-day dining. The hotel’s signature restaurant is the Thai Benjarong.

During our stay, we enjoyed our breakfast in Urban Kitchen and had attended “Wok With Me” theme based Friday brunch at the same venue. Aside from the all-day dining restaurant, the hotel also has The Capital Grill, a sophisticated New York-style steakhouse and bar.

Wok with Me Brunch :

I totally love the idea and concept of this food extravaganza. No need to book a flight ticket to indulge in Asia’s unsurpassed gastronomy. Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi has got his guest at Urban Kitchen covered with an exclusive Asian Wok with Me Brunch in Capital! Staff & Services :

Majority of the staff we noticed in Hotel are from Thailand, always meet you with warm gesture and smile and carry themselves in a delicate, heartening and distinguished manner and will greet you in their traditional thai style by greeting “Sawasdee”. Check-in and check-out were fuss-free and prompt.

Stay:

Though I notice this hotel has more business than leisure guests in weekdays however the trend is totally mix during weekends and especially holidays and vacation breaks season. This is one of the best Staycation and is liked immensely amongst the families. I found the lobby and lounge areas filled largely by very elegantly-dressed Emiratis conducting meetings, while there is Salon and Gym being very famous in locally & near-by areas residing people and hotel guests.

Rooms

My room, a one-bedroom suite, has an excellent view while floor-to-ceiling windows offering beautiful views of the Capital, but don’t forget to close them at night else the flashing airline warning lights attached to corner of the building might bother you. The large marble bathroom was an extravagance. The rooms and hanging art pieces in them and on floors alley are theme co-ordinate with carpets and furniture.

Other facilities:

A host of facilities and services, including Namm Spa and DFiT Fitness Centre, allow guests to cultivate their minds and bodies, they can enjoy a workout at the fully equipped state-of-the art gym, enjoy swimming in the outdoor swimming pool, relax in the Jacuzzi or indulge in a signature massage treatment in spa, where we had enjoyed our amazing treatment, see complete review of Namm Spa HERE.

Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi is an exciting and exclusive addition to a sophisticated global group where we had a complete Thai experience with luxury and astonishing eye-soothing designs. Melt Away that weekly stress in an hour!

It is this concept of healing through water that inspired them at Namm Spa, where the skilful touch of the well-trained therapists will erase the stress of modern life and rejuvenate your body and senses.

The treatment at Namm Spa is to relax, revitalize and enhance our well-being. Each specialized treatment is designed to pamper your senses and redefine your inner balance and outer beauty.

Namm Spa has most calming and professional staff, which makes you feel welcome from the instance you will enter the facility. The aura of the venue itself leave you in trance as the wall colors, the wooden separators and the ceiling to flow long white glossy linen curtains trail gave this Zen concept and Soothing effect to eyes and soul.

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the staff and was taken to the rest area which had an amazing ambiance and light giving you the feel of Zen and comfort. We are presented with cold face towel and a very refreshing drink to restore our body minerals and get revitalize. We were then requested to look upon the consent form which one of the staff explained to us.

Then been escorted to our couple\s treatment room which is so spacious and been fitted with bath tub to soak in along your partner and separate in-room shower at one corner of the room, with separate big closets and towels being provided with hangers to put in your clothes and slip in to your robes and disposables to enjoy a comforting massage.

In the Aromatherapy massage they used exclusive aromatic oil which is combining together with ingredients according to Thai apothecary formula and it’s effective on relaxation, muscle tension and detoxification. The therapy concentrates with a pressure-point massage all over the body, and a bath in end leaving body and mind in balance. Our hour-long massage was so relaxing that I felt like I was cocooned from the hustle bustle of day to day life in that amiably palate, soft & cozy, yellow padded treatment beds, I took a snooze in between somewhere and was softly awaken by the courteous staff for assisting in sitting and stepping outside the bed.

We were given a refreshing tea with honey when we concluded, and been well advised by what-can-be-felt in after hours and been advised to drink a lot of water to flush out a lot of those acids which they melt down during therapy to give us a stress free start for next few days.

THE WESTIN SUPER CAMP

In the past many expat families used the long summer break to escape the heat and spend two months in cooler climes visiting friends and family.  However, today more and more families have both parents working like my case, which limits the amount of time we can spend away from UAE to back home in our countries. But on other hand summer in the sand and dunes emirates can be fairly tricky at times; how do I entertain my full of life & handful (mashaAllah) kids, that are storming the house as not much of street / outdoor activities due to hot climate in UAE!

Well, perhaps a summer camp will be an unlikely break for both of them communally and emotionally. As a trend here in UAE, majority of children in Dubai soon after saying goodbye to exams say hello to summer holidays! Likewise I wanted to Plan my family’s best summer yet with impressive summer camps for kids in and near our very own residence!

 

The Westin Super Camp for Kids is a great venture from the 19^th July to 27^th August, and designed to promote the pillars of Westin: Eat Well, Move Well and Play Well. Indeed my kids really had an amazing time over the weeks enjoying the camp, they did a lot of fun activities and had completely enjoyed the fun-filled week. They loved their swimming sessions especially which was supervised by professional staff Sofia and her team. She an amazing trainer and really helped strengthening the breath exercises and swim coaching in kids.

 

All of the activities have been selected carefully with the ultimate focus of Feel Well, allowing kids that come to the camp to be nurtured both physically and emotionally, as well as with greater awareness of self and of well-being. It’s lovely to see them enjoying their swimming hours, golf talents as well as making their fort and camps in the free play hours, what I love personally is how my boy (Wisam) mingled with the group of kids, interacted well and been an active candidate in all the activities, who is generally appear to be a reserved one when and being along with the masses.

On another note it’s great to know how well my daughter Misha is holding on to her breath while exercising her control activities in swimming classes.

WOW Factors:

• I love the fact how the instructor and supervisors are giving individual attention to each kid and trying to focus on their fear and capabilities bringing out the best in them.

 

• To expand the range of activities they have made partnerships with the Abu Dhabi Golf Club and the Fit’n’Flex Gym.

• What made it extra special for my daughter is her Birthday celebration at the camp, where they have made special arrangements along with big piñata and a delicious birthday cake. She loved the birthday surprise along with colorful balloons and a very fancy birthday candle flower.

• Interaction and bonding between Camp Coach“Ana Rita” and kids is indeed remarkable, She is a professional staff who takes care of kids making sure to nourish their intellectual and physical training and bring so much diversity to the schedule of the camp to make it interesting and fun-loving for the kids. It in indeed a great source on interest for kids when they can well explained and enjoy their summer camp activities at their fullest and I strongly believe for that the credit goes to Rita and her team for pulling such a successful Super Camp at Westin Abu Dhabi, which we will definitely recommend to all parents out there.

The fun and memories are as to cherish for the life time for my kids. My daughter has taken the best of birthday and playdate memories from Westin and talks about it each day. All in all it was great experience. My 2 munchkins simply loved escaping to Westin cool super camp, where they learnt everything from how to decorate their own perfect desserts to swimming and diving. So whether your child’s passion is in the sports or arts there will be the opportunity (lessons of Golf, Swimming, Dance and Yoga, Cooking as SuperChefs etc) for them to be busy and entertained throughout the whole summer holidays here in UAE at Westin Super Camp.

I have enjoyed the August Specials at Heavenly spa.

It was indeed very rejuvenating and revitalizing not just for my body but also for my mind. I have experienced this special Heavenly Spa offer, where you may choose any two of the below treatments for AED380 or three treatments for AED480

1. 30 minute back, neck and shoulder massage
2. 30 minute rehydrating booster facial
3. 30 minute silky smooth scrub
4. 30 minute body waxing
5. 1 pool day pass

I have chosen from 1-3.

 

This was my very first visit to the Heavenly Spa at WESTIN Abu Dhabi. The Heavenly Spa, nestling within the lush gardens of the resort’s expansive grounds, brings together refined, natural materials and sleek modern textures to create an organic, luxurious and stylish setting for sublime serenity. While entering the deluxe alley instantly alleviate my thoughts about wellness.

The wooden inspired brown and pallid walls & interiors feels very soothing.

Staff at the reception warmly greeted and are very hospitable throughout my session.

All my treatments are taken care of very well by a well qualified and professional therapist ‘Anna”, from Poland, who has thoroughly discussed my consent form and information which I have provided with in, to know best about my skin and what I am looking for particularly. She has given me some great advice over how to keep my body and skin hydrated and some smart and quick fix-ups for me face freshness and replenish.

Anna has guided me towards my treatment room and explained me whole procedure, she ensure that those few hours I have spent at the Heavenly Spa is all about me. My treatment started off with smooth scrub followed by a back, neck and shoulder massage i-e one good break down of lactic acids and the flushing out process which continued for a day or 2.

Cleanliness and Hygiene wise Westin standards are at peak. They take care of your well-being and comfort so well that you will just leave the venue in completely good spirit. They have a separate ladies and men area where you may get freshen up and has steam room facility too with showers conveniently locate at both sides of it. Accessibility to lockers and towels in much easier while you may get all basic requirements ranging from toiletries to hair dryer and straighten Iron fitted in the area in front of full-sized mirror.

You can enjoy the invigorating power of their signature techniques in one of six treatment rooms.

 

Treatment rooms are wide and open with proper lighting and in-room showers with all the complimentary toiletries are available, along with a bath robe and disposable . I have been asked to choose an inspiration stone to be placed under my head rest from HOPE, LOVE & GRATITUDE. I stick to the last one and felt the same vibes throughout.  She then asked me which massage oil I would like. Three special blends have been created for Westin Experience. They are to renew, rejuvenate and to refresh.

It was indeed a refreshing treatment and later I spent some time in relaxing area with ample of natural light and refreshment, powered by SuperFood Fx program, another well-being area and touch by Westin. To re-gain your energy they provide you with best sources food of Iron, Potassium and Vitamin along with Vitamin C infused water to refresh you ever after a long treatment.

All in all it was great sense of relaxation full of well-being along with professional services and tranquil environment. Me & Hubby went for a Colorful plate and Vibrant Dinner Date to Fukurou House, located in the ground floor of Emirates Financial Towers, behind the Financial Metro Station. I was totally impressed by the picture in link over an invitation by Fukurou House and planned to visit later that month! This is an Armenian place, However restaurant’s name (signifies an old wise bird Owl) doesn’t give out anything regarding the cuisine & it is relatively new in town as well.

Ambiance:

Loved the ambience of the place. A very contemporary look with vibrant decoration made it extra glam. If you go in events time the mood in the restaurant will be brilliant with the classical jazz music playing and dimmed lighting associating with the type of event they are having. The purple hue to the place with the orange table tops  are complemented well by the large wall drawings in black & gold. A very unique fusion of colors and retro type I would say.

 

Management, Service & Staff: 

The staff was quite friendly, services were timely. Each course was well-timed basis, the expected time to finish the dish was continuously communicated by them. The Chef was giving the short description of the dishes making it a very pleasant service experience, I love the fact how the MD himself was involved as he is a great chef himself and his passion for food and cooking just gave him this whole inspiration of making him dream project to come to life and standing its base in DIFC  Dubai today.

Indeed we are talking about Managing Director, Mr. Armen Kostanyan, you will strained to become fraction of his vision once you chat with him regarding his dream project, how he blend in and did fuse the whole concept of Armenian food, contemporary health and Art all under one roof. Once you enter you will witness gallant shades of either colors or lights, don’t worry it won’t blind you, but in fact attract you to move forward and glaring at the walls on left which is so rouge and bling . Striking art pieces and frames from around the world, specifically focused on women empowerment. Freedom, and Soul, creates responsiveness. There is a classic stage with retro mic been placed making it a perfect and ideal location for Art, Brands, and book launches and, presentations or open mic sessions.

We were seated on prim and porch sofas along with our host Armen, while he gave a brief info about the concept. Origin, food, creativity behind FH and then gave us electronic menu to order. I loved the whole idea of browsing through their iPads for menu as I loved the stylishly dressed images and description of each dish, I would envy my hubby if he would order a better looking dish than me, but luckily both our dishes were to look on. It was customer-friendly and easy to navigate thanks to tech savvy UAE.

Food:

We had sampled 2 appetizers and they were so appealing and vibrant in colors and texture and are served completely fresh and gorgeous. To grind our craving we were served complimentary freshly prepared eggplant caviar with Armenian bread. The bread was fresh from the oven.

The first appetizer was smoked salmon roll with zesty orange portions, avocado and organic dill and red capsicum in it, it was served with tangy lime and ginger sauce and gave that extra oomph to this fresh appetizer.  It was indeed spot on! Armen explained us about the quality of the Salmon which is actually sourced and smoked for the restaurant specifically.

2^nd appetizer was Chicken Crepe served a bit warm, it sounds avenue food, but delivered way higher on the appetite as the crepe was soft and crispy at the same time and is also flavored with some extra spices, the crunch of carrot pieces added the shredded chicken’s flavor. This is the first time I have tasted my crepes with yogurt dip with walnuts chunks on it and every bite of that was a journey to fantasy. It looks big in portion for an appetizer but tasted very light.

My favorite dish in the restaurant is the main I have ordered on owner’s recommendation it’s Portobello chicken with a side of tangy salad, while hubby had lamb chops with sweet potatoes puree, Mine was one large mushroom stuffed with oven-baked grilled chicken, cheese and a pineapple salsa side. The dish was brought to the table by Armen, unfortunately I did not find this dish on recent menu but it truly was the captivating factor of that night and would be worth re-visiting for and to order on demand 😉

 

For their carbs portion what I loved is that they serve quinoa or spinach as side with mains too.

In desserts we have tried their cake of the day which is so yummy.

Extra:

In case you are not being a wine drinker, you won’t get apprehended as, they will quickly ask and quell it by this very rich concentrated flavored drink, non Alcoholic Red & White Wine. Hence if you are in a party with friends and are a non-alcoholic it is the perfect way to go about with your meal.

WOW Element:

• Organic, healthy, gorgeous and soulful food . 
• Eggplant Caviar.
• Gleaming chandeliers.
• Bespoke Art Venue; Art gallery is changing dynamically and on Sunday for example it has live painting event, the main column will be changed into street art piece, guests can enjoy their food and witness its creation, starts at 1 pm.
• Large jeweled rack with Mystique and Imperial bracelets and accessories.
• They also have Lunch Specials with 7 types of salmon, 3 types of authentic stews, meatballs, chicken and vegetarian options, starting AED 45.
• Good news is they’ve launched delivery service as well 🙂

Price:

Price is not too less, but excellent value for money. As all items in menu were healthy, fresh and calorie conscious.

All in all Armen’s passion is clearly apparent from his amusing menu, commendations about ingredients and practical loom, an unusual find in Dubai. Fukurou House most definitely offers value for money with soaring quality, ingenious and artistic dishes. Their menu changes on regular intervals and they substitute less selling dishes with newly created ones hence I am willing to return to taste soon. We would rate them 4.4 / 5 on our likeness meter 🙂
