In Abu Dhabi, we really miss out on events where you get food, entertainment and music altogether in on open arena, surprisingly this November has witnesses the mega foodieland which provide bounty time to each member of family, be it kids or Adults, I am talking about Taste of ABU DHABI, held for the first time in capital; the team has potentially worked day and night to make the event successful, and indeed what an eye-witnessed gala it was.
The event has yet a lot of activities; It started with a bash and has definitely finished up with a huge successful 3 non-stop days of best food tasting and fun experience. A true delight for the families, I have been invited for Taste Of Dubai last year it was lovely experience indeed as well, but what I like at #TasteAD more this time was the location of the stalls and arena set-up was in such a synch manner that you hardly miss any area and can roam around without getting tired and lost. The family zone this time was such an added benefit, #Vox Cinemas kid’s movie sessions was highlight and of course the Kids area made our children so happy. My expectations from this foodieland goes vava voom with some of the best names in dine out industry are serving the mouth watering dishes, varying from the Italian and Belgian to pure Indian cuisine they had the wide range and array of choice to serve the masses in Capital, even the portions I have experienced this event are bigger to their previous venture. Every item was made to fresh order and offers the aroma which you can’t resist.
Lets come to the food, I can just go on and on as by far it will be the longest blog as its about the best restaurants tasting and sampling their delicacies in town, and as my royal responsibility being a foodie is to indulge in the maximum possible way I could 😉 I must say the portion and cost ratio was very well this time. Some of my favorite which topped the lists are Yakhni Biryani from Ushna; Oh the so sufficient portion was the best part of it and the aroma of exquisite Indian spices, can’t wait to go back and be more adventurous and try their other dishes.
Flooka’s Tabbouleh is very fresh and the addition of cilantro and lime juice gave that zest and it maintained the ratio. Nolu’s Café Chapli Burger was my favorite discovery in Afghan-American cuisine and I definitely categorized their Chapli burger in health food options. I am not a ginger fan and that too with fish, but believe me as a friend advised I had actually tasted Tuna with ginger dressing form Turquoiz and it was awesome.
I couldn’t stop gushing and raving about TNT Shrimp from Caramel restaurant for so many days since I got back from TasteAD as they so tender and juicy, and surely act like dynamite once it enters your mouth and dribble your tastebuds to have more of them, I could even feel the crispiness from the chili mayo coat on it.
Lovable sugary & Sweet TREATS:
Tiramisu by Carluccio is yet authentic and the most flavorsome sweet, My personal favorite were Holland House Mini Pan cakes, You can’t judge them by size till you get mouthful of those awesome goodies along with your favorites Nutella or White chocolate flooding over with sugar dust. Yas water world were so generous to offer different fruit slushies and Pink and Blue cotton candy.
Chef’s Theatre was another highlight of the event which is more like Live Cooking demonstrations, so much informative and full of interaction with the Master Chefs and audience, It offer wide knowledge from an inspiring line-up of Chef’s including Eric Lanlard, Jun Tanaka, Steven Edwards and Food Network’s Reza Muhummad and Jonathan Phang.
It was such an exclusive opportunity to see my favorite chefs in action – featuring demos, culinary challenges, entertaining tutorials and enlightening Q & A session, and guess what I had a chance to encounter Chef Raza vivid humor and Chef June flamboyant personality via these sessions. Hmm if Cooking is Cricket Pitch then Chefs are brilliant all rounder aren’t they!!! 🙂
Apart from this there were large numbers of exhibitors at the show. India Palace, Jones the grocer, Knorr and Maggie were some of my favourites..Cookery School displayed provided a chance to Learn the secrets to making life easier in the kitchen with a number of hands-on Master Classes, where chefs taken you through the step-by-step processes and passed on all the required tips and tricks you needed, and I did impress my friends and family at home in no time by decorating those Couture Cupcakes later on!
On the first night of the event it was a musical spectacular, The Jersey Boys, as they took the crowd on a rock and roll journey.
Last but not the least, were the happening Photo Booth of SPG and Evian breeze water background display, it’s a bounty time for a selfie-addict and the family to bring along with them lots of memories from this all in all perfect event.
I wish they will come back soon in 2015 or If I may suggest to have it twice in a year 🙂
